Woodblock print, edition of 6, 2019.
The start of a series of portraits based on webcam self-portraits and other forms of self-portrayal in a queer aesthetic. Combining a more formal style of wood carving with an almost silkscreen-like inking style produces a distorted texture somewhere between the analog and digital realm.

The Execution of Christopher Dorner
8 color reduction woodblock print, edition of 22, 2013.
The story of a rogue LAPD officer who released an incendiary manifesto, murdered two superiors, started a deadly police chase, was hunted across California with military drones, and ultimately died in a fiery shootout in a mountain cabin. The surreal intensity and drama of this event was somewhat incomprehensible at the time, with almost mythological proportions, but also a perfect representation of the many interwoven political tensions of that time period. This piece tries to make sense of that moment in the style of graphic novels or children's books, referencing the comic book hyperviolence of ambiguously heroic vigilantes, and the didactic moralism of folktale woodcuts.

Drone Warfare
Moku hanga woodblock print, edition of 14, 2013.
Moku hanga has a long tradition of landscape, and can be used to create subtle and delicate fields of gradient color. This series paired that sense of color with a heavier graphic style, to make a playful children's illustration, and comment on the normalization of empire building in US culture.
